Cup Match documentary to be screened and discussion held

Members of the cricketing fraternity will host a panel discussion following a film honouring the legacy of Cup Match.

In recognition of emancipation, the Department of Culture will screen the documentary film Cup Match: Legacy of Honour at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on Wednesday.

After the film, a panel discussion will be held featuring Neil Paynter, the president of St George’s Cricket Club; Reginald Pearman, the former president of Somerset Cricket Club; and Clevie Foggo, the former president of St George’s Cricket Club.

Owen Darrell, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, said: “For over a century, Cup Match has been cherished by Bermudians as more than just a cricket game. It symbolises the pursuit of excellence, inspires younger generations and showcases the determination of a community to celebrate its culture.

“Through a range of Bermudian voices, this documentary explores the uniquely Bermudian touchstone that connects its people, culture and legacy of honour.”

The event is free to the public and seating can be reserved at Cup Match Legacy of Honour.
