A temporary lane closure in Pembroke will continue for longer than previously expected, the Ministry of Public Works has announced.

A public notice from the ministry stated that a temporary road closure on Marsh Folly Road to allow for rock cut works would continue until July 14.

The notice said the extended closure was caused by concrete not being available until late last week.

“The repair work will continue to require a lane closure,” the notice stated. “The lane closures shall only commence during construction working hours from 7am through to 6pm daily.

“Thereafter the road will be reopened for night and early morning traffic. The works will continue to require a temporary lane closure for the eastbound lane until Friday, July 14, followed by a final temporary road closure on July 11.

“Motorists are advised to use Canal Road, Dutton Avenue, Black Watch Pass, Langton Hill, and North Shore Road for detour routes.

“The bus stops and sidewalk along Marsh Folly Road at this location will be closed. Bus passengers are advised to use alternative bus stops along Cedar Avenue and the Saltus School bus stop on St John's Road.”

The work had previously expected to be completed by June 30.
