Six organisations received $215,000 in grant money at an awards ceremony after a popular fundraising event.

The money was presented by the 2023 Convex End-to-End as participants and sponsors were celebrated at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.

Three charities — the Bermuda Zoological Society, which supports the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo; the Eliza DoLittle Society, which helps to meet the needs of the island’s homeless population; and Vision Bermuda, an organisation dedicated to supporting people who are blind or vision impaired — each received $50,000 grants.

Gina Spence Productions, which uses community outreach activities to support at-risk residents, and the Skills Development Programme, where young people are trained in horticulture, were awarded $25,000 each.

Fundraising efforts by pupils earned the Bermuda High School the 2023 Deloitte School Award, which came with a $15,000 prize.

Anne Mello, the End-to-End chairwoman, said: “We are thrilled with the turnout and support for this year’s event. We had 2,500 participants from sailors and rowers to walkers and cyclists.

“Thanks to their fundraising efforts and the support of our sponsors, we were able to donate $215,000 to local charities that are doing incredibly important work in our community.

“We would like to recognise and thank our sponsors for their exceptional support. Without title sponsor Convex and platinum sponsors Butterfield and Deloitte, the End-to-End would not be possible.”

Participants trekked the 24 miles from St George’s to Dockyard when the event was held in May.

Others took part in the 14-mile Middle-to-End portion or a three-mile Fun Walk from Somerset.

Stephen Catlin, the chairman of Convex, said: “The 2023 Convex End-to-End was yet again an enormously enjoyable experience.

“We saw the whole island come together, putting on a show of its generosity and community spirit.

“My gratitude goes out to all the volunteers, donors and participants whose contributions make it possible for many great initiatives to flourish.”

The 2024 Convex End-to-End will be held on April 27.
