Berkeley Educational Society holds day of sun and fun

A Family Beach Bash is being held to celebrate 125 years since the founding of The Berkeley Institute.

It will take place on August 12 at Clearwater Beach, St. George’s, and will bring together Berkeleyites for a reunion. The event will run from 10am to 6pm.

The Berkeley Educational Society is preparing a picnic with “games, refreshments and vendors on-site for additional snacks and refreshments”.

Formed in 1879, the society went on to establish The Berkeley Institute on September 6, 1897. The 125th celebrations have been ongoing since the anniversary last year.

The school, which has more than 500 students, is Bermuda’s oldest operating public high school. It has thousands of alum globally.

The society thanked Barritt’s and Lindo’s Market for their help in holding the event.
