US Consulate’s Study with US campaign features Bermudian
The US Consulate General in Bermuda has launched its Study with US campaign to encourage students to pursue higher education opportunities in the United States.
For the campaign, it released a student spotlight video on Bermudian Giovanni Hollis, who studies industrial engineering, healthcare systems operations and maths at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Hollis praised the US education system for giving him the flexibility and freedom to choose his major.
In 2022, he received the $50,000 BFIS CG Insurance Alan Peacock Scholarship, along with several others.
He says scholarship opportunities “are readily available here on the island for Bermudians who want to study abroad in the US, and all you need to do is apply.”
US Consul-General Karen Grissette said that scholarships can be found through the many affordable US institutions.
“With over 4,500 accredited institutions of higher education, the United States has a college or university right for every student,” she said.
The campaign reinforces longstanding educational ties between the US and Bermuda.
The Study with US programme supports students through EducationUSA, a US State Department network of more than 430 international student advising centres in more than 175 countries and territories, and online at EducationUSA.gov.
EducationUSA offers information about postsecondary education and provides services to students and their families for the admissions process and finances.
