Bermuda Red Cross offers psychosocial first-aid training
The Bermuda Red Cross is offering a psychosocial first-aid training course for individuals and organisations to help in the establishment of community teams capable of providing assistance after traumatic events.
Psychosocial first aid involves recognising and responding to people experiencing crisis-related stress.
When a crisis, emergency or disaster occurs, those exposed to the incident may not feel the impact immediately.
Responders may help distressed individuals feel safe and calm, or they may be needed when the physiological state of a frontline worker affects their performance.
During the training course, the Bermuda Red Cross will teach about defusing emotional situations.
After the course, participants will be equipped to become a part of the Bermuda Red Cross Community Response Team.
The class will be held from 8.45 am to 5.00 pm from August 21 to August 24. The deadline to register for the training is August 14.
