More than eight of out ten Bermuda residents said they would be ready in the event of a major hurricane, according to a recent survey.

The survey of 210 people, carried out by Narrative Research Bermuda in June, found that 82 per cent of those asked felt they were prepared for a major hurricane to hit, with 16 per cent stating they felt “completely prepared”.

Only one in ten of those surveyed said they felt unprepared, while 7 per cent said it would depend on how severe the storm was.

The results were similar to those from a survey carried out by the research firm last June when 78 per cent of residents said they felt prepared.

Younger residents between the ages of 18 and 34 were the least likely to feel ready, while White residents were more likely to feel prepared than Black residents.

The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season began on June 1 and will continue until November 30.
