Mr Chicken is planning to cross the road

Mr Chicken is hoping to cross the road to a new location at the former home of Sousa’s Landscaping in Southampton.

While the local fast food business has long had an outlet at the nearby Heron Bay Plaza, according to a recent planning application the chain has sought to make minor renovations to the building at 2 Camp Hill to turn it into a restaurant.

The property, at the junction of Camp Hill Road and Middle Road, has been vacant since Sousa’s Landscape Management Company Ltd shut its doors.

The proposed changes to the building include installing an exhaust fan and kitchen hood.

Included planning documents state that the restaurant would operate between 11am and 10pm Monday to Thursday, between 11am and 4am on Friday and Saturday and from 8am to 7pm on Sunday.

However, the application has already attracted objections from neighbours, who expressed concerns about noise late at night, waste and pest management and traffic, along with the potential smell of fried chicken grease.
