A shuttered St George’s restaurant could see new life, according to a recent planning application by the developer behind St Regis.

Planning documents submitted on behalf of Hotelco International propose the redevelopment of Blackbeard’s Hideout, which overlooks Achilles Bay near Fort St Catherine.

The proposal includes the creation of a new, expanded kitchen area, a covered terrace, a new main entrance on the southeastern side of the building and a new access ramp leading from the nearby bus stop to the restaurant.

Indoor dining space will also be expanded with a new bar area.

Hotelco had previously announced that it intended to renovate the restaurant, which closed before the pandemic, as part of its $25 million plan to renovate the St George’s Club site.
