Taxes must be filed by Monday, public reminded

Taxes must be filed by October 16, the Government has reminded the public (File photograph)

Monday is the deadline to file and pay taxes, the Government has reminded the public.

Taxpayers who are registered to e-file must file and pay their taxes on October 16 through the online government portal.

Those who wish to register for e-filing must visit the online tax portal and select “register”.

They can also e-mail taxenquiry@gov.bm and include their tax account number, tax account name, a contact number and the first and last name of the person requesting to set up the account.

Taxpayers must also indicate whether they intend to pay through direct debit.

Because the e-tax portal is not providing e-mail receipts at the moment, those who wish to receive one can print the return from the confirmation page as it will contain the receipt.

Alternatively, applicants can also choose to review the relevant return form to confirm the submission.

All other taxpayers who fit the normal requirements must submit manual returns to the government cashiers on the first floor of the Government Administration Building.

Payment can be made with cash, cheques, or debit or credit card.

Waiting time may be slightly extended as the cashiers are operating manually at present.

• Any queries can be e-mailed to taxenquiry@gov.bm
