Muslim community to host peace walk in support of Palestine

The island’s Muslim community will host a peace walk in support of the people of Palestine tomorrow.

The silent event will begin at about 11am at Wesley Square in Hamilton, proceed towards Church Street and down Burnaby Street and Front Street.

Walkers will then head up Queen Street before finishing at Wesley Square.

The Muslim community is not the first group on the island to show support for citizens in the Palestinian territory of Gaza amid the Israeli-Hamas war.

Earlier this week, local pressure group Social Justice Bermuda called the conflict, which began after the militant group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, a “genocide”.

SJB called for an immediate ceasefire in the region, humanitarian aid to be given to civilians and the Israeli state, as well as any other country that “aided and abetted the occupation and war crimes against the Palestinian people”, to be prosecuted.
