Construction worker dies after industrial accident

A construction worker died after an industrial accident in St George's, police have confirmed.

According to the Bermuda Police Service, the 42-year-old Portuguese national was reportedly struck by a steel beam shortly before 5pm on Friday.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but he was pronounced dead soon after.

A BPS spokesman said: “Officers from the Bermuda Police Service forensic support unit visited and processed the scene. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

“The Bermuda Police Service extend condolences to the family of the deceased.”

The spokesman did not reveal the identity of the victim or the precise location of the accident, saying that no further information will be released at this time.
