Government implores public to help locate missing teenagers
The Government is urging the community to assist in locating two missing teenagers.
The search for Ajahni Lema-Bascome, 16, is now in its 33rd day, while 15-year-old Raquel Sofia Sousa-Sequeria has been missing for six days.
A spokeswoman for the Government said: “The Department of Child and Family Services continues to collaborate closely with the Bermuda Police Service in their efforts to locate Ajahni Lema-Bascome and Raquel Sofia Sousa-Sequeria.
“Our combined efforts involve exploring multiple avenues to establish contact and ensure the safe return of these teenagers.
“We share the concern of their families and support networks, and urge anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Ajahni Lema-Bascome or Raquel Sofia Sousa-Sequeria to promptly contact the BPS.
“Our primary concern remains the wellbeing and safety of these young persons.
“We implore anyone who may have information that could assist in locating them to come forward and share what they know."
A police spokesman said that “someone knows where Ajahni is” and that “at 16 years of age, Ajahni is still considered a juvenile and, to be clear, harbouring a juvenile is an offence punishable under the law”.
A person guilty of this offence can receive a maximum fine of $3,000 or six months’ imprisonment.
Ajahni is described as approximately 5ft 8in and 125lb, light-complexioned and of slim build, with dark hair worn unkempt or in plaits.
He was last seen at about 11.30pm on November 9, in the Slippery Hill area of St George’s.
At the time he was wearing dark pants, a dark jacket, white socks and dark-coloured Crocs.
Raquel was last seen at 7.30am on December 6 in the area of Middle Road, Smiths, as she made her way towards The Berkeley Institute.
She is described as being 5ft, light-complexioned and slim built with neck-length black hair.
At the time she was dressed in a school uniform — navy blue skirt, white shirt, green and yellow tie, navy blue socks and black shoes.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011.
