Garbage and recycling schedule released for 2024
The Ministry of Public Works has released this year’s garbage and recycling schedule.
Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, said that the schedule helps residents to “effectively plan and manage their waste-disposal needs throughout the year”.
He added: “It not only simplifies the process of garbage and recycling collection but also underscores our goal of a cleaner and more sustainable Bermuda.”
Garbage in Zone 1, which stretches from the western end of the island to Church Road in Southampton, will be collected on Mondays, and residents in Zone 2, which goes from there to Cobb’s Hill in Paget, will have their trash picked up on Tuesdays.
Rubbish in Zone 3, from Cobbs Hill, throughout Pembroke to Black Watch Pass, will be picked up on Wednesdays, and in Zone 4, which goes to Devil’s Hole and Flatts Village, it will be collected on Thursdays.
Garbage in the remaining parts of the island will be collected on Fridays.
Starting on January 11 and 12, recyclables in Sandys through Paget, as well as Tee Street and Kent Avenue in Devonshire, will be collected every other Thursday, and recyclables in all other parts of the island will be picked up every other Friday.
Christmas trees will be collected in the west on January 13 and on January 20 in the east.
Lieutenant-Colonel Burch said: “Proper waste-disposal and recycling practices are essential in safeguarding Bermuda's natural beauty and ensuring a healthier future for future generations.”
Residents can check their mailboxes, visit gov.bm/garbage-and-recycling, or see Related Media, for this year’s schedule.
