Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, recognised two officers who retired after almost 75 years combined with the Bermuda Police Service.

Mr Simons highlighted Pc Michael “Mick” Redfern’s and Pc Timothy “Timmy” Evelyn’s “dedication to duty, leadership and mentoring as well as their commitment and dedication to service”.

Mr Redfern, a senior investigative officer, worked on several high-profile cases and helped many young officers with their detective skills.

Known by his colleagues for his high standards, Mr Evelyn worked in many areas of the BPS, most notably in the Roads Policing Unit.

A BPS Facebook post said: “Mr Evelyn’s willingness to pass on the knowledge and experience gained after more than thirty years with the BPS has helped ensure the newer members of the BPS are well prepared to meet the mandate of making Bermuda safer.”
