Aeolians choir performing on island
An award-winning university choir will perform on the island this month.
The Aeolians Choir from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, will give three free performances and sing at a school fundraiser on January 26 and 27.
More than 30 Bermudians have been part of the choir since it was formed in 1946.
The Aeolians performed at the Second International Moscow Christmas Festival of Sacred Music and won the Choir of the World Luciano Pavarotti trophy in 2017.
Their repertoire ranges from 17th and 18th-century pieces to contemporary music.
Guests should bring chairs to the group’s first performance, which will be on the steps of City Hall at noon on January 26.
The second free show is at Hamilton Seventh-day Adventist Church at 11am on January 27 and the third at Southampton Seventh-day Adventist Church at 12.45pm on the same day.
The group’s final performance, a fundraiser for Bermuda Institute, will be in the school’s auditorium at 6.30pm on January 27.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $50 for general admission and $35 for senior citizens.
Sponsor tickets are $150, with bronze sponsorships at $250, silver $500, gold $750 and platinum $1,000.
Tickets can be bought at the Bermuda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists headquarters and book store on King Street and at G-Pass.bm.
Oakwood is the only historically Black college or university-owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
