Butterfield encounters systems issue

Butterfield Bank has reported an unspecified issue that resulted in payment delays.
The Ministry of Finance said that the problem at the bank affected pension disbursements.
It said all necessary pension payment files had been given to the bank “on time and in the required format”.
According to a statement from the ministry, Butterfield Bank encountered an internal systems problem, but was able to address it and pay customers early this afternoon.
The ministry said it hopes pensioners were not unduly inconvenienced.
Butterfield Bank said: “There was an issue this morning that briefly delayed some payments. The issue has now been resolved.
“Butterfield apologises for any inconvenience.”
