Catalina Re donates to Friends of Hospice
Catalina Re has donated $10,000 to support a Friends of Hospice initiative.
Tina Rego, chair of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance Committee and group treasury manager, said the company was happy to support Friends of Hospice given the impact the charity has had over the past 29 years.
Sakina Darrell, Catalina Re human resources business partner and ESG committee deputy chair, said the committee “ensures that our culture, core values, sound business practices continually and positively impact the communities in which we live and work.
“We are particularly delighted to be able to support and assist the Friends of Hospice at this time, during the Help Us Grow campaign, which marks the next chapter of palliative care in Bermuda.”
Friends of Hospice began the Help Us Grow initiative in 2021 to open a new care centre that provides “exceptional medical, social and spiritual support to its residents and their loved ones”.
Jennifer Mahoney, Friends of Hospice’s executive director, said the organisation is “extremely grateful for the generosity of Catalina Re and the faith that they have exhibited in this critical initiative”.
She added: “The Help Us Grow campaign is truly a catalyst for change as it will provide us with the platform needed to deliver enhanced palliative and elder-care services to the community in an inclusive, caring environment that promotes dignity, respect and a true sense of belonging.”
“Every donation takes us one step closer to making this dream a reality.”
Friends of Hospice will host a family-friendly fundraiser at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on January 27.
