Teenager found safe and well
A teenage girl missing for more than two weeks has been found safe and well, according to police.
Raquel Sofia Sousa-Sequeira, 15, went missing on January 7. It was the fourth time the Berkeley Institute student had run away in three months.
Police issued an appeal for witnesses earlier today, stating that officers on mobile patrol had been on the lookout for the missing girl, but had been unable to locate her.
Last night, in a statement to the media, a police spokesman said: “Thanks to your assistance along with that of the public, Raquel Sofia Sousa-Sequeira, who had previously been reported missing, has now been located safe and well.”
Raquel was first reported missing on October 28 last year in the area of Hillview Lane in Warwick, but was found safe and well a week later.
She disappeared for a second time on the morning of December 6, when she was seen on Middle Road in Smith’s making her way to school at Berkeley. On that occasion, Raquel went missing for 12 days.
She went missing for a third time on the afternoon of January 4, the last sighting of her at the time being on the school campus. She was found safe and well the next day.
In an appeal for witness during one of her earlier disappearances, police said they believed she was in contact with close relatives and friends.
A police spokesman said at the time: “The general public have reported sightings, which are appreciated and still encouraged.
“Unfortunately, many of those reports were called in days later and are of limited use by the time the information is received.”
