History Channel to examine lost Bermuda-Jamaica flight
Questions about one of the Bermuda Triangle’s most famous disappearances may be answered on the History Channel tonight.
A post on social media promoted the latest episode of The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters.
Now in its second season, the show investigates the mysteries surrounding one of the world’s most famous patches of ocean.
Tonight’s episode, which will air at 11pm Bermuda time, will highlight the 1949 disappearance of the Star Ariel aircraft.
The Star Ariel was a Tudor IVB aircraft operated by British South American Airways that left Bermuda for Kingston, Jamaica, with seven crew and 13 passengers on board on January 17, 1949.
Captain John McPhee sent two messages to Bermuda after taking off, which were the last messages the crew would ever transmit.
Despite dozens of ships and aircraft searching for the missing aircraft for five days, no wreckage, debris or bodies have been found.
Later that year, the Chief Inspector of Accidents in Britain cited the cause of the accident as unknown.
