Residents have been urged by the social development minister to get involved in consultation talks about ending homelessness in Bermuda.

The first session held recently included a discussion focused on understanding how people become homeless and exploring the causes.

A second event will cover an overview of the Plan to End Homelessness. It is on February 6 at the Chamber of Commerce from 6pm to 7pm.

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “The community consultation sessions are a critical step in gathering diverse perspectives to help us shape a comprehensive plan that truly addresses Bermuda's unique needs.”

Her ministry along with members of the Plan to End Homelessness Advisory Panel and Steering Committee thanked everyone who attended the first session.

Ms Furbert added: “We need the community to join us and we have three upcoming opportunities.

"Session 2 will delve into the specifics of the Plan to End Homelessness, providing an overview and answering the question: what does the Plan to End Homelessness really mean?

“Members of the PTEH Advisory Panel and Steering Committee will be present to guide attendees through the plan and address any queries.

“Bermuda, this is our plan and we need your input because your voice matters.”

The Draft Consultative Plan to End Homelessness is accessible and open for feedback until February 29 at forum.gov.bm.
