Police launched an investigation after a male pedestrian, believed to be a teenager, was struck by a car in Devonshire yesterday morning.

The Bermuda Police Service said the young man attempted to leave the scene on Middle Road, almost getting hit by another vehicle in the process.

An appeal was made for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 10am.

A spokesman for the BPS said: “Information is that a motor car was travelling west along Middle Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Alexandra Road, when a young man ran across the street, resulting in a collision.

“The young man, believed to be between 15 and 17 years of age, got up and attempted to leave the scene, narrowly avoiding being struck by another vehicle.

“He is described as having light skin, braces, black hair worn low and of small to medium build.

“He was wearing a black T-shirt, black and grey pants, and carrying a backpack.”

Witnesses were asked to call 247-1705 or the main police number, 295-0011.

A BPS spokesman added this morning: “The parents or guardian of the young man involved in the collision are also asked to make contact with police.”
