Registration for workshops for creatives reopens
Registration for a series of professional-development workshops for members of the creative community has reopened, the Department of Culture announced yesterday.
The workshops, called the Creative Culture Labs, will run until March 25.
Registration for the workshops is free but participants must register on creatives.bm to qualify.
“The workshops welcome creatives from all skill levels, fostering an inclusive environment for learning and collaboration,” the department said. The event is now in its second year.
“These workshops are aimed at enhancing the skills of creatives at all levels and offer valuable opportunities for growth and networking,” Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, said.
“In 2023, 100 per cent of attendees reported that they acquired new knowledge and 93 per cent expressed satisfaction with the networking opportunities provided. The overwhelming positive feedback is testament to our commitment to supporting and nurturing the creative community in Bermuda.
“The Department of Culture remains committed to empowering creatives and fostering a supportive environment for skill development and networking.”
The workshops will cover a diverse range of topics designed to cater for various interests within the creative community.
Most of the workshops will be held after normal working hours. Highlights will include headshot sessions; building creative portfolios and resumes; practical discussions on preparing for art shows; and the use of Canva, a graphic-design application.
Participants will be exposed to sound engineering basics; podcast creation; event hosting; acting for film auditions; budgeting for large-scale events;and applying for Bermuda Arts Council funding.
The Department of Culture said, due to high demand, some sessions may already be fully subscribed.
