Motor procession may affect traffic next weekend

A procession held as part of a women’s conference may affect traffic next Saturday, but no road closures are expected.

According to a notice published by the Ministry of Public Works, the Miracle Temple Women’s Conference Motor Procession is expected to take place between 10.45am and 4pm on March 9.

The procession is expected to start at the Boaz Island Community Field on Runway Lane in Sandys and proceed down Malabar Road, Somerset Road, Middle Road to near Barnes Corner, where they will take a break to allow traffic to pass.

The procession will then continue down Middle Road to the Middle Road Post Office near Khyber Pass Road, before continuing down Middle Road and into Hamilton on Trimingham Hill.

The planned route continues on Front Street, Queen Street, Church Street, Cedar Avenue, Angle Street, North Street and Parson’s Road before stopping for another break at the Pembroke AME Playground.

The procession will then travel along North Street, Dutton Avenue, Marsh Folly Road, Palmetto Road and North Shore Road until they reach New Testament Church of God Miracle Temple churchyard.

The route continues on North Shore Road into St George’s through Mullet Bay and York Street, through King’s Square and then up York Street and Old Military Road before stopping at the St George’s bus depot.

The notice stated: “It is expected to conclude by 4pm and will have a police escort.

“There will be no road closures. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collisions with procession participants.

“The procession will be under the control of police officials. Motorists are asked to follow the police's instructions to assist with traffic control for this event.”
