The Bermuda Bicycle Association will take to the streets next weekend for its team time-trial road race, and motorists have been urged to take caution.

The race is scheduled to take place between 7.30am and 9.30am on March 17, with participants riding through Paget, Warwick and Southampton.

According to a notice published by the Ministry of Public Works, the competitors will set out from the Old Paget Post Office and travel west on Middle Road to Barnes Corner.

Riders will then turn on to South Road and travel eastward until Bermuda College.

If that route becomes unusable, the notice states that an alternative route has also been planned, with riders travelling from Middle Road to South Road by Lighthouse Road.

The notice said: “The race route will be under the control of road marshals. There will be four marshals at the start and finish locations and two at the junction of Lighthouse Road and South Road.

“There will be no road closures. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collisions with race participants.

“Motorists are asked to follow the instructions given by the race marshals to assist with traffic control for this event. The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full co-operation of the motoring public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.”
