Bermudiana Road parking and dining to be suspended for road works
Motorists will not be able to park along Bermudiana Road next month as works are carried out to replace century-old sewer lines, the Corporation of Hamilton said.
The corporation said outdoor dining will be suspended for the duration of the project.
Work will run from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 4pm for three to four weeks from April 1.
“The sewer lines along Bermudiana Road are more than 100 years old and have surpassed their life’s use,” a corporation spokesman said.
“City teams have recently identified leaks along this length of pipe, and the pipe must be replaced before the situation becomes a health and safety concern. The City will endeavour to minimise disruptions to the public during this time.”
The corporation said business operators on the eastern side of the roadway should expect “scheduled temporary disruptions to their service during this work”. More advance notice will be given to those businesses, the corporation said.
Cycle owners may be able to park on Gorham Road, Par-la-Ville Road and Front Street, and at Par-la-Ville Car Park in the cycle bays.
The corporation said while work is being carried out, buses may be diverted on to Queen Street.
“This will be communicated to the Bermuda Public Transportation Board with as much advance notification as possible,” the corporation added.
