Nominations open for BNT awards
Nominations are open for the annual Bermuda National Trust awards.
The BNT said winners will be awarded for their efforts to “protect and promote appreciation for Bermuda’s natural and cultural heritage”, or if their work has enhanced awareness or understanding of the island’s heritage matters.
Winners will be selected from four categories.
They include heritage education awards, for schools with conservation programmes that demonstrate “conservation or other care of Bermuda’s natural or cultural heritage”.
Cultural heritage awards will be given to nominees for preserving Bermuda’s cultural heritage through conservation, advocacy or education.
The natural heritage awards are for “protecting, restoring or advocating for the natural environment; for inspiring appreciation and awareness of Bermuda’s natural heritage; [and] research that adds to our understanding of Bermuda’s natural heritage”.
The BNT will present the Outstanding Young Environmentalist award to a young person “who has made an exceptional contribution to the preservation of Bermuda’s natural environment for a considerable length of time and has been consistent in this regard”.
To be eligible for the category, the young person must have reached the age of 26 by December 31, 2022.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from bnt.bm/events_tours/annual-awards/.
Anyone interested can also pick up forms at the BNT’s office, Waterville, at 2 Pomander Road.
