Governor to host King’s birthday reception

Birthday celebration: the King will turn 76 in June (File photograph)

A birthday party fit for a king will be held in the summer — and some lucky residents will be invited.

The Governor, Rena Lalgie, will host a reception to celebrate the birthday of King Charles III on June 13, and has opened an online ballot for those wishing to attend.

Ms Lalgie said: “We are once again inviting members of the public to apply to the ballot for an invitation to attend this year’s King’s birthday reception.

“In 2023, we had a fantastic response, with 200 members of the public joining us to celebrate the 75th birthday of His Majesty the King as well as Their Majesties’ coronation.

“However, sadly, due to the move from Government House to a temporary residence, we are more limited in numbers than in previous years. Nevertheless, we look forward to welcoming as many members of the public as we can to this year’s King’s birthday reception.”

Those wishing to attend are asked to complete an online form, which can be found at s.surveyplanet.com/Bye4tR_5ZxPx and on the Government House Facebook page.

The ballot closes at noon on Wednesday, April 17.
