Aecon has made a donation of $40,000 to support the Bermuda National Athletics Association team’s journey to the 51st Carifta Games.

The Canadian-based firm that built LF Wade International Airport supported the athletes competing in the annual sporting event which took place from Saturday to today at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St George’s, Grenada.

Steve Nackan, Aecon executive vice-president and president of Aecon Concessions, said: "Our repeat investment in the BNAA team’s participation in the Carifta Games reflects our commitment to removing barriers to opportunity, empowering young athletes to focus on their development and the unique experience the Carifta Games offer, and ultimately to support positive social impact."

Mr Nackan said the sponsorship, which will enable participation in the event, underscores the importance of providing young athletes with opportunities for growth, enrichment, empowerment and global exposure.
