Belco announces winners of kite safety poster competition
Belco received more than 40 entries from Primary 1 and 2 students for its kite safety poster competition this year.
A statement said company staff and the Belco Bird mascot visited classrooms to discuss kite safety as part of the annual contest.
P1 Saltus Cavendish student Raelyn Robinson, 5, won two $500 vouchers – one for toys and one for Belco – for making this year’s best poster.
Seven-year-old Antonia Walker, P2 pupil at Somerset Primary School, and six-year-old Harrington Sound Primary student Anna Neururer, also in P2, each received a $250 toy gift voucher for creating the competition’s best kite safety message and most beautiful poster, respectively.
Shelly Leman, Belco’s managing director of transmission distribution and retail, said it was “wonderful to receive more than 40 fantastic posters from students across the island”.
She added: “As always, it was difficult to choose the winners.
“Kite safety is very important to remember during the annual Good Friday holiday, and by participating in the competition, students learn the important lessons on kite safety while having fun creating their artwork.
“On behalf of the staff at Belco, congratulations to the winners.”
The posters can be viewed on Belco’s Facebook page.
