WhatsApp, Meta platforms down during international outage
WhatsApp and other platforms owned by the tech giant Meta are down during an international outage, The Royal Gazette can reveal.
Users reported the problem to outage-tracking website Downdetector.com this afternoon as many around the world struggled to send messages through WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
The outages has been reported by several news outlets and appears to have affected several countries including Britain, the United States, India and Brazil.
Meta has yet to release a statement, but its website shows that, while some issues have been resolved, it is still facing “major disruptions” across the platforms.
The official account for WhatsApp on X shared: “We know some people are experiencing issues right now, we're working on getting things back to 100 per cent for everyone as quickly as possible.”
Instagram and Facebook have yet to share a statement.
Other businesses and technology watch groups have also warned about the outage over X.
The outage comes one day after thousands of Instagram users reported technical problems with the platform, as well as with its blogging companion app, Threads, to Downdetector.
