The headquarters of an organisation that supports visually impaired people will reopen this weekend after years of delayed renovations.

Vision Bermuda will open Beacon House on Cedar Avenue and invited the public to attend.

A spokesman for the charity said: “Beacon House has undergone extensive renovations, and despite challenges, much due to the widespread disruptions and impact of the Covid pandemic, our vision has been unwavering.

“Today, we celebrate not just the reopening of a building but the renewal of a promise to serve and support each person affected by vision loss in Bermuda.”

Beacon House will help people with visual impairments learn to use the latest tools to assist them with everyday life.

The new headquarters is entirely accessible and will help attendees to build a sense of community while learning how to navigate safely around Hamilton.

Vision Bermuda’s spokesman said that the renovations were backed by funding from the Lions Club and help from builders, many of whom worked for free.

He said: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this remarkable achievement.

“Your support has lit the path to a brighter future for those with vision loss in Bermuda.”

The opening of Beacon House will take place at 11am tomorrow at the corner of Cedar Avenue and Dundonald Street.
