Endeavour and SailGP Inspire to hold online fundraiser
The Endeavour sailing programme is partnering with SailGP’s global outreach once more to provide opportunities for Bermuda’s youth.
SailGP Inspire and Endeavour, which promotes experiential learning through sailing, will raise funds through an online initiative for the third time.
This partnership in 2021 and 2022 allowed ten young Bermudians to work with SailGP Inspire around the world, with three more set to take part in the next three months.
The funding also provided scholarships to 23 people who completed Endeavour’s graduate programme so they could develop their sailing skills at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club and USAIL.
Jennifer Pitcher, executive director of Endeavour, said the charity is “proud to partner with SailGP Inspire for another year of exciting learning and skills development opportunities for diverse youth across Bermuda”.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Endeavour’s donors and supporters including lead founding partner, Orbis Investments who generously support Endeavour's programmes that positively impact diverse young lives across Bermuda.”
Sir Russell Coutts, SailGP chief executive and chair emeritus of Endeavour, said: “Through our collective efforts, we are inspiring the next generation of Bermudian sailors and maritime professionals representing young people of all skills, backgrounds and abilities.”
Funds will be raised through an online auction.
Items available for bid include autographed shirts and hats, a visit to the teams’ bases and a day pass for two people to the SailGP Adrenaline hospitality lounge on May 4 or 5.
Sir Russell added: “We encourage everyone to bid for the exclusive SailGP experiences and one-of-a kind items in this unique fundraiser.”
