Runners will vie for a share of $2,500 in prize money at the Bermuda Healthcare Sir Stanley Burgess 5km race on Sunday.

The winnings will be split between the first-place male and female participants.

Contenders will start at the Clyde Best Centre for Excellence, in Prospect, at 8.30am.

Bermuda Healthcare Services said it was proud to continue its title sponsorship of the event, which is the final race in the Legends Series organised annually by Swan’s Running Club and has so far attracted 150 entries.

Ewart Brown, the executive chairman of BHCS, said: “Sir Stanley Burgess was my neighbour in Flatts. I always admired his dedication and determination to succeed.

“At Bermuda HealthCare, we try every day to work with the same dedication and determination to deliver first-class healthcare to our patients.

“We are proud to work with Swan’s Running Club to promote good health and wellness.”

A club official added: “We are thankful for Bermuda Healthcare Services' sponsorship of the Sir Stanley Burgess 5K Race for three consecutive years.

“Legends such as Sir Stanley Burgess have contributed to the sport’s popularity.”
