Contractors sought for wall repairs in St David’s
The Government has put out a request for quotation for repairs to a damaged retaining wall in St David’s, which is considered to be a frequent accident spot.
The RFQ, published this week on the government procurement website, called for experienced contractors to provide quotes for rebuilding a retaining wall along the foreshore near the former Severn Bridge.
It said: “The general contractor shall supply all adequate and competent labour, supervision, tools and equipment, installed and consumable materials and every item of expense necessary to complete the construction project.”
According to RFQ documents, the contractor would be expected to prepare the site by clearing debris and demolishing the existing wall down to grade while preventing debris or contaminants from getting into the nearby waters of Stocks Harbour.
The successful bidder would then be required to rebuild the concrete foundation and retaining wall, backfill behind the wall and clean the beach.
It was noted that the contractor would also be expected to manage traffic in the area, keeping at least one lane of St David’s Road open to motorists.
The deadline for submissions is 3pm on May 30, with an estimated execution date for the agreement on June 13.
Area residents recently called the location a frequent accident spot with as many as 16 accidents taking place there since 2015.
