A team from a real estate company provided support to the Transformational Living Centre for Families by converting a store room into a living space.

The charity said Rego Sotheby’s International Realty recently completed works on the room, which “can now be used to accommodate another much needed accommodation for a housing-insecure family”.

Christina Musson, of Rego Sotheby’s, contacted TLC and made arrangements to undertake the project at the charity’s Parson’s Road facility.

The company provided materials and its volunteers undertook the project.

Penny MacIntyre, a partner at Rego Sotheby’s International Realty said: “We're thrilled to work with TLC and contribute to their mission of providing safe and stable housing to families who need it most."

She added: “This collaboration underscores the agency's commitment to community service and its ongoing support to local charities.

“We were honoured to use our skills and resources for this incredible cause.”

A TLC spokeswoman said: “As we move towards preparing for a second cohort of guest families, Rego Sotheby’s generosity removes the burden of preparing a room for one of our already wait-listed families, to come into a comfortable environment that will give them a reprieve and a hand-up from living vulnerable lives.”

She explained: “Accommodating families at the TLC expands beyond the need to provide comfortable beds and nutritious food.

“We intentionally incorporate personalised empowerment programmes, dedicated case management, regular counselling and more.

“Moving forward for our families includes reconnecting them with affordable housing, employment, and the life skills they must master to be independent and to thrive.

“Our ultimate goal is to prepare our families for a stable and fulfilling life after the TLC.”

The charity said entities such as Rego Sotheby’s support its mission in the “transformation of women and their children, to move beyond surviving to thriving, one family at a time”.
