Crews complete Southampton road-resurfacing works
Resurfacing work on a stretch of road in Southampton has been completed ― with Collector’s Hill next in line for work, the Ministry of Public Works said today.
“We are pleased with the completed paving of the eastbound and westbound lanes between the Henry VIII and Fairmont Southampton entrance,” the Minister of Public Works, Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, said.
According to a ministry spokesman, the paving crew started the work at Dolphin Ridge before moving on to the Fairmont Southampton Entrance.
He said the crew successfully completed the milling and paving of the westbound lane before completing the eastbound lane on Wednesday night.
Colonel Burch added: “Infrastructure investment and improvement are hallmark pledges of the Government’s 2023 Throne Speech.
“Our goal is to address several critical areas in the coming months with the improved summer weather conditions, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all road users.”
The team will move to Collector’s Hill “as the next critical area” ― earlier this year the road was resurfaced only for rain to wash the repairs away.
