First teen awards ceremony since pandemic announced
Bermuda’s exceptional youngsters will be spotlighted during the first Outstanding Teen Awards ceremony since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 38th annual awards ceremony will recognise this year’s nominees, as well as the winners of 2022’s Outstanding Teen Awards.
Wendy Augustus, the executive director of Teen Services, said: “We are thrilled to see such a high level of participation from our schools this year.
“The dedication and achievements of these young individuals are truly remarkable, and we are honoured to celebrate their contributions to our community.”
The Outstanding Teen Awards highlights people between 17 and 19 who have demonstrated high talent and dedication or contributions to the community.
Teen Services this year received 114 nominations, some for the same teenagers, from high schools across the island, and will see 88 nominees stand for the awards.
A spokeswoman for the Outstanding Teen Awards said that it had been “a cornerstone of the community for 37 years” that honoured the hard work of young people.
She added: “The importance of the Outstanding Teens Awards cannot be overstated, as it continues to inspire and motivate the next generation of leader, artists, athletes and change-makers.”
The ceremony will be held on Sunday at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium in Devonshire.
Doors open at 3pm and the ceremony will start at 3.30. The event will be emceed by Mr Foto Genik.
