Residents and businesses in the City of Hamilton were advised today that garbage collection around the city will be affected by the holiday weekend.

A statement from the City said trash collection will stop at 5pm on Thursday and resume on Monday.

All garbage should be placed on sidewalks or designated garbage areas by the time indicated in the refuse collection schedule.

The schedule can be found on the City’s website at www.cityofhamilton.bm.

Residents and businesses were urged not to place garbage out for collection unless it was scheduled for that day.

For Bermuda Day, the City urged spectators to take away their belongings and trash after the parade.

The City also said that the use of hot coals or any type of barbecue or similar implement for cooking food were not permitted on sidewalks.
