Collision

A man was taken to hospital today after a single-vehicle crash in Smith’s.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said that the incident happened at about 5.10am on South Road in Smith’s, near the junction with Collector’s Hill.

He explained: “It appears that the car involved was being driven along South Road when the vehicle struck a sidewalk, a wall and a utility pole, ending up on its side.”

Police said that after the collision, the driver, a 25-year old man from Paget, remained conscious. He suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The man was temporarily trapped inside the vehicle before emergency service crews were able to get him out.

Traffic was diverted for 1½ hours, until the crash site was processed and the damaged car was towed away.

Inquiries continued and witnesses were asked to call 211.
