King’s Bermuda Day message to island
The island has been warmly thanked for its “ever-growing co-operation” with Britain on environmental matters in the traditional message of Bermuda Day goodwill from King Charles III.
The greetings from King Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, were conveyed to David Burt by Rena Lalgie, the Governor, as well as to the people of Bermuda.
The message to Ms Lalgie read: “My wife and I have great pleasure in sending our heartfelt congratulations to your Premier, and the people of Bermuda, as you celebrate the special occasion of your National Day.
“I value the ever-growing co-operation between us on important global issues, particularly ocean protection and addressing climate change, which are crucial for future generations and also for people today.
“I was pleased to learn of the work you are undertaking through Bermuda’s Blue Prosperity Plan, which will protect your unique marine ecosystems.
“I was also delighted that the Royal Bermuda Regiment participated in the Coronation celebrations in London last year and I am grateful for your support.
“I extend my warmest thanks for continuing the annual tradition of sending Easter Lilies.”
The royal message closed: “My wife and I would like to take this opportunity to convey our warmest good wishes for the coming year.”
