Events tent proposed for Clearwater parking area
Plans have been put forward to create a facility with the potential to accommodate thousands of guests in St David’s.
A planning application, submitted earlier this year by Michael Branco, proposes the instillation of a new event space near Clearwater Beach.
It would consist of a pavilion tent and containers on the Clearwater Beach parking lot, located south of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club.
Planning documents said: “The PTIX pavilion will function as an event-based venue. Event organisers can rent the space on a daily basis, typically scheduling events for afternoons and evenings.
“It will not operate continuously as a hospitality venue but will be readily available for specific events. Events are expected to primarily occur on weekends, with limited use during the weekdays.
“PTIX operators will erect the tent in advance of events and subsequently lower the tent frames for storage on site, as the tent must be taken down in high winds.
“Storage containers and appropriate fencing will remain on the site to allow for faster mobilisation and less associated costs with hosting events on site.”
The pavilion would be made up of four metal arch frames connected to metal feet, which are anchored to the ground, with fabric tent material draped over the frame and secured.
The site would also include metal storage containers and fencing.
The planning documents said that the pavilion tent would be able to hold as many as 800 standing guests while the surrounding parking lot would be able to accommodate up to 5,000 people for larger events.
