Driver hurt in Devonshire crash
A Southampton man was taken to hospital for treatment after a crash in Devonshire yesterday.
The 38-year-old was driving a van, which bore the business name Ace Installers, on North Shore Road when he apparently suffered a medical episode before the vehicle crashed through a railing, police said.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said the crash happened at about 9.15am, near the junction with Loyal Hill Road.
He added: “Initial information indicates that a truck being driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road went through a section of roadside railing, ending up in the trees.”
The man was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries, which were said to be not life-threatening.
The BPS spokesman said Belco workers responded to the scene regarding a leaning utility pole.
Traffic in the area was disrupted for about an hour and the damaged van was later towed away.
Witnesses are asked to call 211.
