Former premier Ewart Brown was recently honoured by his former high school in Jamaica.

At an event on June 5 Collette Pryce, principal of St Jago High School, praised Dr Brown’s contributions to medicine, politics and philanthropy before he was presented with a special award for his support of the Spanish Town school.

Dr Brown said he was humbled and grateful for the recognition, stating: “What I thought was a day of private meetings with teachers, students and coaches turned into a day entirely dedicated to recognising my life's work.

“I was completely taken by surprise and overwhelmed by the warmth and generosity shown by everyone involved.”

Dr Brown added: "Being recognised by the very institution that played a pivotal role in shaping my early years is incredibly special.

“This honour is a testament to the enduring bond I share with my alma mater and reinforces my commitment to continue serving the community in any way I can.”
