Government, union meetings to affect public services
Union members are to take part in a series of government meetings this month, temporarily affecting public services.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Finance said the meetings were being held as part of the island’s pension reform consultation process.
“This is an opportunity for public officers to learn more about this important topic. It’s hoped that there will be participation by union members,” the spokeswoman said.
The first meeting, involving members of the Bermuda Industrial Union, is scheduled to take place today at 2.30pm and could affect public transport.
On June 14, the Government will host two meetings with the Bermuda Public Services Union between noon and 3pm, which are also expected to affect some public services.
The final meeting will start at 10am on June 18 and will also involve the BIU, affecting public transport.
The government spokeswoman added: “The two BIU meetings are being planned to reduce the impact on service disruption.
“The public is encouraged to make alternative arrangements as it relates to public transportation to avoid delays. All services will resume following the conclusion of the scheduled meetings.”
