Sessions next week offer biometric collection for Canada
Biometric collection sessions for Bermudians seeking Canadian visas are to take place next week in Hamilton.
Specific identification criteria are mandatory for some individuals applying for a Canadian visitor visa, work or study permit, or permanent residency in Canada, as well as for all international students, including Bermudians.
Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for Bermuda’s residents who have already applied online or by mail for a visa, work, or study permit, or for permanent residence anticipating travel to Canada to have their biometrics collected.
“Not only is it convenient to do this in your country of residence, but it also avoids the expense of travelling overseas.
“So, I thank the Consulate General of Canada for their ongoing commitment to offering this service, which has and will continue to benefit many.
“I encourage all who are eligible to take advantage of the opportunity.”
People can use the service if they:
• Reside in, or can legally enter, Bermuda
• Applied for a visitor visa, study or work permit, or permanent residence in Canada
• Paid the biometrics fee (Canadian $85 per individual applicant; Canadian $170 maximum fee for families applying at the same time)
• Possess a biometrics instruction letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
To avoid long lines, people must book their appointment in advance by e-mailing CNGNYConsular@international.gc.ca.
The e-mail should include the person’s surname, given name, date of birth, phone number and copy of their Biometrics Instruction Letter. The Consulate General will respond to the e-mail within two business days.
What to bring to the biometrics appointment:
• A valid passport or other travel documents
• The Biometrics Instruction Letter
People are advised to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their appointment time.
The biometrics collection service will take place on June 19 and 20 from 9am to 1pm at the Department of Immigration in the Government Administration Building on Parliament Street.
