Government department facing phone disruptions

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is working through a temporary disruption of its phone systems.

A government spokesman said that the disruption was a result of “essential upgrades” being implemented in the department’s communication systems.

“This upgrade is part of our commitment to enhancing communication capabilities and improving service delivery to the public,” the spokesman said.

“While the transition is under way, we regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience.”

The department released temporary contact details to assist those who need to get in touch with staff.

For animal issues, including the dog hotline, the government vet or advice on pet importation, e-mail animals@gov.bm or call 246-7588.

For the plant laboratory, which covers plant imports and plant diseases, e-mail plants@gov.bm or call 444-0586.

For pollution control, including operating licences, water rights issues and spills, e-mail pollutioncontrol@gov.bm or call 246-7485.

For general inquiries, call 236-4201.

The spokesman added: “We will notify the public once the upgrades are complete and provide the new phone numbers at that time.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and support as we work to serve you better.”
