Motorcyclist seriously injured in Southampton crash

A male motorcyclist was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Southampton this evening.

The Bermuda Police Service said that they were dispatched at about 7.20pm, along with first responders, to the scene of the accident which involved a taxi and a motorcycle on South Road, Southampton, near the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.

A police spokeswoman said: “Early information, suggests a male travelling in the eastbound lane on a motorcycle, collided with a taxi travelling in the opposite direction.

“The motorcycle rider has been conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of what has been described as very serious injuries.”

She said the driver of the taxi had not been reported as injured.

She added: “Traffic diversions are in place at Lighthouse Road and Harbour view Drive as police process the scene.”

Police are asking witnesses to contact Sergeant Blackman at the earliest opportunity.
