Charity shop goes online only during two-month renovation
The charity shop Habitat ReStore is to operate online only for two months while its Front Street location undergoes renovations.
All business will be done via www.habitat.bm, where items such as furniture, home goods and art will be available for purchase.
Sheelagh Cooper, the chairwoman of Habitat for Humanity, which benefits from the sale of products at the store, said: “We are in a lovely but very old building, which sadly is falling down around us.
“For safety reasons, we really had a choice to either move or bite the bullet and repair the building.
“We love it here and the store has been so successful that we decided to do the work necessary to make it safe for ourselves and our customers.”
She added: “We want to advise those who donate items that we are still very much open for donations as we have a secure warehouse and those items will be sold online.
“Our store manager, Sandra Warner, is still co-ordinating sales through our website and updating our range of products daily.
“The revenue that is generated by the ReStore is an important source of funds for our projects, so we want to carry on business as usual.”
The shop is in the former Bluck’s of Bermuda site.
Habitat for Humanity recently completed the renovation of the St James Rectory to turn it into a residential treatment centre.
The charity is now focusing on some of the smaller home renovations that have been on hold for some time.
Ms Cooper said another exciting project was in the works in Devonshire.
