Art exhibition explores concept of portals
The Bermuda Society of Arts is encouraging the public to visit its summer members’ exhibition featuring artists’ interpretations of the concept of portals.
Artists were invited to submit up to six artworks on the theme.
The Portals exhibition includes a piece by Shanna Hollis called Where is the Love?, which depicts Marco Warren, the late footballer who died in an apparent hit-and-run incident. Mr Warren was killed on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish on May 14, 2023.
The gallery posted on its Facebook page after the June 26 opening night of Portals and another show titled Homeland: “After a wonderful opening last night, we are excited for even more people to experience Portals and Homeland. There are so many amazing artists who have created top-notch artwork.”
The gallery, on the top floor of City Hall, described the show as “a captivating exploration of artistic interpretations of portals, both literal or metaphorical”.
It added: “Portals can be openings to new places, passageways to other worlds, large entrances with grand, imposing doorways.
“Portals can also serve as openings to new experiences and sensations.”
The show is in the Onions Gallery until August 20.
